Parallax (Forest, desert, sky, moon)
A downloadable asset pack
Note: Second asset pack is here: https://bongseng.itch.io/parallax-country-side-city-night-city-destroyed
Hi everyone,
This is the first series of parallax I made. It was inspired by few scene I've seen here and there (including some other parallax).
These works best for side shooter "a la R-type delta" or other game of the genre but I guess they could work in other types of game as well.
In this file you will find:
- Forest parallax: 6 layers (with front layer in long and short version. Long to avoid too much repetition)
- Desert parallax: 6 layers
- Sky parallax: 9 layers
- Moon parallax (this one is still rough around the edges... I'll probably update it later on when I add other parallax): 6 layers
BONUS:
I also put the assets I used for the game I made to showcase these parallax
- 6 Enemies (JPG and sprite sheet): They are unoriginal but they do the job as unoriginal, bland enemies
- 1 Explosion animation: 7 frames (again, not perfect but it does the job and it can be modified quite easily)
- 2 small icons hp and powerup
- Basic player ship animated part (laser, laser shoot, exhaust high and low)
- Player ship sprite sheet: Default, going up tilt, going down tilt (7 frames altogether)
I know some parallax do not have the same size (some are bigger than the intended size but it's just about changing the display ratio.
UPDATE COUNTRY SIDE / CITY
You can find 3 additional parallax here:

UPDATE CONCEPT GAME
I also built a game using these. As always it is something I put together quite fast. I did not encountered bugs but, if you have any, just let me know.

These are so wonderful! I just used them for my first project and made sure to credit you. Thank you for posting these!
It's really a pleasure to read comments like yours. If you want to, just give me the link of your project and I will have a look !

It's just a first time project, but thank you for taking the time to look! Any feedback is very appreciated! I just love your trees!
Love it. Mama brought home carrots for dinner ~ It's very cute. Just ideas but, as you learn godot, you could try to code a global script (one that you load in the project => project settings => global) with few variables to track. Like distance (or timer) and point (you could randomly spawn carrots during the fall => eating them would give you extra points for example). Keep the good work !
Excellent work, congratulations! I'll definitely be using it in my projects and quoting you.
Thanks a lot. Glad to hear that. Send me the link of your project if you want I'd love to have a look at it when it's done.
Amazing! Could you make more backgrounds?
I have few more background coming but not right now (I am currently working on an update for my room asset). Maybe by the end of the month/beginning of the year.
Rural area, city and destroyed city.
Looking forward to your new works
Hi,Bongseng! What's the license? Can I use these nice works in my commercial projects?
These are 100% free and as far as I am concerned you can use them as you please.
However, as your projet is commercial, I want to be 10,000% transparent with you. Even if it is "TMI".
Parts of these parallax were made using AI generated images as reference (it's an "old" project I worked on when I first discovered generative AI a year ago).
To give you the full process on that project so you can decide by yourself:
1) I drew the first outline of my parallax layers.
2) Instead of google image, I used AI generated image as reference/inspiration to rework my layers.
3) Then I mixed everything together, redrew/simplified shapes and colors and unified style.
I put AI tag on this work in itch system (I dont know how itch communicates this to users) for that reason.
On a creative point of view I thought it was a fun and interesting thing to do. But I always intended to distribute these asset for free so I never thought about things like licence and commercial use. I also do not have reference images anymore.
If you are still interested and want something in the same style, but 100% "AI free", I have another series of parallax coming soon (in the coming weeks), 100% from me and based on reference photos I took myself.
Thanks for replying!I am looking forward to your new works!
Wow, stunning backgrounds! Absolutely fantastic! Looking forward to see more of you work.
Thanks a lot !
Do not hesitate to let me know how you feel and what should be added, corrected or is missing !
